Brazilian shoe-designer Andreia Chaves calls the likes of Maison Martin Margiela, Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake as well as the structures of her hometown, Sao Paulo, her sole inspirations. In the same breath, her sole is a bit freaky. Her “Invisible Shoe” is made of wedges of mirrors and looks just as uncomfortable to walk in as, well….a wedge of mirrors, broken mirror. Broken mirrors walking across a tightrope….But close your eyes for a moment, and imagine showing up to a party in them. Now you understand. More of Andreia’s creations follow, including what I like to call the the “I-Accidentally-Stepped-On-Your-Gamboy, Boy” and the “I-Meant-To-Step-On-Your-Mouse”. These creations that are sure to round up a couple of stares … and a bunch of reflexology bills.
